Риск. Обычно мы понимаем его как вероятность неприятностей. Потерять деньги, здоровье, время, репутацию. Но для философов-экзистенциалистов и мыслителей жизни риск — это не просто опасность. Это суть человеческого существования. Быть человеком значит рисковать. Не потому, что мы любим опасность, а потому, что жить подлинно невозможно без риска. Любое настоящее решение — это прыжок в неизвестность. Любая свобода — это ответственность, которую нельзя просчитать. Именно риск отделяет живое существование от механического. И именно через риск человек становится тем, кем он может быть.

Фридрих Ницше: риск как воля к мощи и самоутверждение

Ницше был одним из первых, кто реабилитировал риск как жизненную необходимость. Он презирал безопасность и уют, которые делают человека слабым. Для него риск — это воля к мощи, способность преодолевать страх и создавать новые ценности. Его сверхчеловек — это тот, кто умеет рисковать собой, кто не боится одиночества и ошибки. Ницше считал, что большинство людей живут по инерции, как последние люди, которые ищут только комфорта. А подлинная жизнь начинается там, где мы готовы поставить всё на карту. Риск у Ницше — это не стратегия, а образ жизни. Он chooses опасность, потому что только в ней человек проверяет себя на прочность и создаёт себя заново. Известная фраза «Будь тем, кто ты есть» означает именно это: riskнь быть собой, а не копией других.

Сёрен Кьеркегор: прыжок веры и риск неопределённости

Кьеркегор радикализирует идею риска, связывая её с религиозным выбором. Его главный образ — «прыжок веры». Вера — это не результат размышлений, это риск, который не имеет рационального обоснования. Невозможно доказать существование Бога, но можно рискнуть поверить. Этот риск принципиально отличается от всех других: он не гарантирует спасения, он даже не гарантирует счастья. Но он даёт человеку подлинность. Кьеркегор также говорит о риске выбора между эстетической и этической жизнью. Выбирая этику, человек рискует потерять наслаждение и свободу. Выбирая эстетику — рискует потерять смысл. В любом случае выбор — это риск. И единственный способ избежать его — не выбирать, но это тоже риск, риск прожить пустую жизнь. As long as we avoid thinking about death, we live inauthentically, in «das Man» (existence without individuality). But as soon as we accept death as our most personal, non-transferable risk, we begin to live truly. Хайдеггер calls this «being-towards-death». This is not fear of death, but an awareness of finitude that forces us to choose. Risk here is not action, but a state. We risk every moment when we choose to be ourselves, not just a replaceable detail in society.

Для Ясперса risk is connected to so-called «boundary situations» — death, suffering, guilt, struggle. In these situations, a person cannot rely on habitual knowledge or rules. They face the fact that their existence is fragile and unpredictable. It is here that they are forced to risk — to choose how to be, without guarantees. Ясперс believes that these situations are key to awakening the true «I». Without risk, without confrontation with the impossible, a person remains on the surface. Risk is the opportunity to go beyond everyday life and touch the transcendental. But this is always a personal act that cannot be transferred to others. Risk is the price we pay for the freedom to be ourselves in the face of the unknown.

Sartre is perhaps the most categorical in his understanding of risk. For him, a person is absolutely free, and this freedom is the main risk. We do not have a predetermined nature, we create ourselves every moment. Any of our actions is a choice that determines who we become. But we cannot know the consequences, we cannot be sure of correctness. This causes the anxiety that Sartre calls «yearning». Risk in Sartre is an integral part of human existence. We cannot avoid it. Even refusing to choose is a choice. Therefore, risk is not flamboyance, but a basic structure of existence. Being free means being responsible for your decisions, even if they lead to failure. Sartre asserts that a person is doomed to be free, and this doom is the highest risk.

Альбер Камю: риск абсурда и бунт

Camus approaches risk through the concept of absurdity. A person strives for meaning, but the world does not give him an answer. Living means risking meaninglessness. But Camus does not suggest submitting to despair. On the contrary, he suggests rebellion — living in defiance of absurdity, continuing to search, feel, act. Risk here is the readiness to accept an absurd situation and not to give up. His favorite example is Sisyphus, who rolls the stone, knowing that it will roll down. He knows that his work is meaningless, but he continues. This is what risk is: risk remaining loyal to life, even when it does not give grounds for hope.

Габриэль Марсель: risk openness and love

Marcel, unlike many existentialists, emphasizes interpersonal risk. For him, true existence is possible only through openness to another. But openness is always a risk: you can be rejected, misunderstood, betrayed. However, without this risk, it is impossible to have love, friendship, real communication. Marcel contrasts «having» and «being». A person who is focused on possession avoids risk because he wants to control. A person who chooses «being» risks opening up — and in this risk finds himself. He also speaks of the risk in relation to God: faith is not a servile knowledge, but a risk of trust, even when there are no visible proofs.

Despite the differences, all these thinkers agree on one thing: risk is not a deviation, not an error, not an exception. It is an existential necessity. Being human means being in a situation of risk. We cannot fully control our lives. We cannot guarantee success. But it is this uncertainty that makes us free. Without risk, there is no authenticity. Without risk, there is no choice. Without risk, we remain only functions, not individuals.

Therefore, when we talk about risk from the perspective of philosophy of life and existentialism, we talk about the ability to be. About the readiness to make mistakes. About the ability to act despite fear. This is the philosophy of not carelessness, but courage. Courage to be oneself in a world that does not give us guarantees.
